Direct Supervisor: Laboratory Manager


The Laboratory Technician - Analytics (LTA) is a critical role that will support the laboratory’s development, standardization, validation of analytical methods. Under the supervision of the Director of Processing the LTA will help ensure the safety and effectiveness of our cannabis products in accordance with all company and state regulations. The LTA will work with the Laboratory Manager to analyze and report results for measuring and detection of cannabinoid potency, terpene potency, microbiological contaminants, heavy metals, residual solvents, pesticides, and mycotoxins. They will ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by following SOPs for laboratory staff to follow. The LTA will be responsible for providing ongoing maintenance of instrumentation, troubleshooting instruments and methods, and continuing maintenance of methods and materials. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented, detailed-oriented individual who can efficiently function in a high demand, performance-driven environment.



  • Perform test sample extractions or dilutions and execute instrumental analysis using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC) equipped with various detectors according to established standard operating procedures
  • Develop, validate, monitor, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist Laboratory Manager in the recommendation, evaluation, and order of new laboratory instrumentation or equipment
  • Responsible for the application and evaluation of approved microbiological and chemical techniques and methodologies used in the analysis of cannabis industry products
  • Ensure that the methodologies used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory are adequate and suitable for the respective matrices, and that results are accurate and reliable
  • Retrospectively analyze test results to generate a discrepancy report on previously released Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
  • Develop, monitor, and ensure Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) procedures

Quality & Financial

  • Implement the quality assurance system as it applies to laboratory operations and the performance of professional chemical and microbiological testing of cannabis products and samples
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual quality reports for the laboratory, including CAPA report summaries, turnaround times, audit findings, and quality control and failure trends, progress on process/method/quality improvement initiatives, and other key quality metrics
  • Tune, calibrate, evaluate analytical instrumentation daily before use and incorporate quality control (QC) tests within batches of test samples
  • Review each specimen or proper number and tracking throughout testing, identifying all discrepancies before sample testing begins

People & Development

  • Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to leadership
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities for kitchen technicians, including performance reviews, shift work assignments and resolving technical issues and questions
  • Participate in the evaluation of new or improved methodology and training of new subordinates Compliance
  • Achieve mastery of all processes, all related parts of SOPs, and all knowledge required to maintain compliance
  • Perform monthly work product audits to ensure staff in each section of the laboratory maintains adherence to ISO / IEC 17025 and CCC standards

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or pharmaceutical related
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an analytical testing laboratory
  • Experience with instrumentation such as: HPLC, LC/MS/MS, GC, and ICPMS
  • Knowledge of scientific principles, terminology, and techniques related to cannabis processing and testing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Analytics and other analytics tools


  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work independently, with minimal supervision
